Is it worth it to get a RN certification if it is only intended for emergency intentions?

I fully agree with Shana--if you have no desire to pursue nursing as a career path; its not worth the waste of your time and the school's time (as well as take a spot from someone who really wants to be a nurse), just for disaster skills (although that is a noble thought on your part.!) You will not be a very good nurse with just school work & no real experience (that comes from working in the field)--these overseas disaster want very experienced personnel; and you need continuing education to keep that license. You could do the EMT route or advanced first aid, etc. Remember, many of these require you to work in the field to keep the license current. You have a heart of gold tho.
