Is AKC mixed registration really worth it?

The main reason for registration is so that the dogs can compete in the various AKC sanctioned doggy sports. It you don't ever plan to compete, I can't see any reason for registering the dog. My dogs are both from Corgi Rescue. I ume they are purebred, but it doesn't really matter. We don't compete in doggy sports so I have never bothered to register them.
