What kind of rechargeable battery is best for my cordless home phone?

I have a Philips CD 440 and i just recently replaced the rechargeable batteries that came with the phones with Philips MultiLife 700 rechargeable accu AAA 1.2V NiMH batteries (thought I'd give you guys everything there was on the batteries themselves <>). I followed ALL the instructions on setting up the first charge, how to let them run down etc etc (I'm a tad bit OCD that way <>). The charge life on the SUCKS!!!!! I can't even get a few hours off of them--I am pretty much having to have them live on the charging bases and when my kids leave them off (um, let's see, every day!!!!!!!!) I end up talking on speaker while they are on the base--kind of defeats the purpose of a cordless phone--a phone with a cord would be more handy! Anyway--long story short--can you recommend a good battery for me that will have a good charge life--or on the other hand tell me what I am doing wrong!?! Thanks!!!!!!
