What is better a leopard gecko or Fire bellied newt?

I cant decide if i should get a leopard gecko or a fire bellied newt and whatever one you pick can you please give me a way to save money. You know how money is tight these days just for me to save like 30 dollars my cousin is going to give me his 10 gallon tank and im going to use paper towel for the substrate but any other tip will be accepted thanks
