When a guy wears two earrings does it mean anything anymore?

I know that what side a guy wore his earring on used to denote whether he was gay or straight. Does that matter anymore? Does two earrings mean the guy is bi or does it mean nothing? I'm asking this out of curiousity, no offense or phobia intended.
